Career

He joined Team Giant–Alpecin in 2016 on an initial two-year contract.[5] He was named in the startlist for the 2017 Vuelta a España.[6] In July 2018, he was named in the start list for the Tour de France.[7] During the 2018 Tour he wore the White Jersey as best young rider for seven stages. He did not finish (DNF) the 2019 edition. During the 2020 Tour de France he won stage 14 with an attack three kilometers before the finish calling the victory a dream win because of how hard Team Sunweb worked to put him in position.[8] Eight other riders attacked inside the final ten or so kilometers but he was the only one to stay away. He also went on to win again on stage 19.
