Sūgaku Joshi Gakuen (数学女子学園) is a Japanese television drama series.[1] It ran for 12 episodes. The cast primarily consists of Hello! Project members.

The song "Hatsukoi Cider" from Buono!'s single "Hatsukoi Cider / Deep Mind" was used as the closing theme for the TV series; the opening song is "Pyoco Pyoco Ultra" by Morning Musume.[2]

Synopsis

In the private school of Machida Special High School of Mathematics, a fight for the "No. 1 Mathematics Boss" breaks out between two high school girls, Nina and Sayuri. A male student by the name of Kazuki, who has zero interest in mathematics gets transferred to the school due to a mistake in the handling procedure.

Characters

Class 2A

Nina Machida (町田ニーナ, Machida Nina): Portrayed by Reina Tanaka; A free spirited person. She is very innocent but very stubborn. She stands out as a Mathematics Genius. As she was born and raised in Fukuoka, she speaks in Hakata Dialect. She is in search of her lost sister who attended the school. Her tagline for winning battles is "Sine・Cosine・Mentaiko". She makes Kazuki her servant and makes him run errands for her.
Sayuri Tachikawa (立川さゆり, Tachikawa Sayuri): Portrayed by Sayumi Michishige; A excessive self-consciousness person. Initially a rival of Nina, but came to respect her because of her strength in mathematics after losing to her in a mathematical battle.
Kazuki Sato (佐藤一樹, Sato Kazuki): Portrayed by Dori Sakurada; He was transferred to the school by a mistake. A person who is very bad at mathematics and is unable to solve a middle school math problem. He is summoned around like a servant by Nina and Sayuri, but does not complain about it, with a slightly masochist personality. He falls in love at first sight easily, but it does not develop into love.
Mami Shibuya (渋谷真実, Shibuya Mami): Portrayed by Maimi Yajima; A person with strong sense of justice. She is the leader of the Shibuya Keibitai. She constantly carries a handcuff to keep the school safe. She like mystery and detective novels and is very engrossed when reading it. After losing a mathematical battle to Nina, they are seen together battling others. She is a former Mathematical Battle Judge.
Yuri Uehara (上原優梨, Uehara Yuri): Portrayed by Airi Suzuki; Known as the "Cute Angel" and classmate of Nina and Sayuri. Although she falls in love easily, her love for mathematics is stronger than any romance. She pays very close attention to Kazuki. She also battled Nina and lost. She became Nina's companion after which.

Recurring characters

Nagisa Toriumi (鳥海渚, Toriumi Nagisa): Portrayed by Risa Niigaki; A teacher working for the school. Usually seen wearing a lab coat. She listens to Nina's troubles and gives advice. She also supports Nina in her quest to find her missing sister.
Sana Nagata (永田沙奈, Nagata Sana): Portrayed by Riho Sayashi; She is the current mathematical judge. She appears when a mathematical battle breaks out and judges the battles fairly and in a cool manner.
Umi Yamashita (山下海, Yamashita Umi): Portrayed by Kanon Fukuda; High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
Riku Ogura (小倉陸, Ogura Riku): Portrayed by Meimi Tamura; High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
Sora Tengenji (天現寺空, Tengenji Sora): Portrayed by Ayaka Wada; High school year 1 student. Admires and respects Nina.
Mr. Muraki (村木先生, Muraki-sensei): Portrayed by Suzunosuke; Former teacher of Class 2-A.
Mina Hatsudai (初台みな, Hatsudai Mina): Portrayed by Akari Saho; Student of Class 2-A. She is the supporter of Yuri's love.

Shibuya Keibitai

Noa Miyashita (宮下のあ, Miyashita Noa): Portrayed by Haruka Kudo; She is the leader of the Shibuya Keibitai (渋谷警備隊) and maintains the order of the school.
Rion Miyamasu (宮益りおん, Miyamasu Rion): Portrayed by Masaki Sato; Shibuya Keibitai member and maintains the order of the school.
Rin Utagawa (宇田川りん, Utagawa Rin): Portrayed by Haruna Iikubo; Shibuya Keibitai member and maintains the order of the school.

Fuyumi Okubo (大久保冬美, Okubo Fuyumi): Portrayed by Maasa Sudo; Leader of the Kuishin Girls (食いしんガールズ) and a very big eater. She always wins eating competitions. A person seen as troublesome, but is actually very motherly. The other Kuishin Girls refer to her as a mother.
Haru Akasaka (赤坂春, Akasaka Haru): Portrayed by Mizuki Fukumura; A member of Kuishin Girls.
Riko Nakano (中野理子, Nakano Riko): Portrayed by Erina Ikuta; A member of Kuishin Girls.
Mei Otsuka (大塚メイ, Otsuka Mei): Portrayed by Kanon Suzuki; A member of Kuishin Girls.

Judgement Squad

Iroha Aoyama (青山彩葉, Aoyama Iroha): Portrayed by You Kikkawa; Leader of the Judgement Squad (風紀委員) (School Committee). She has a very serious and cool personality.
Miku Azabu (麻布未来, Azabu Miku): Portrayed by Saki Shimizu; A member of the Judgement Squad (School Committee), serving under Aoyama.
Takako Jinguu (神宮貴子, Jinguu Takako): Portrayed by Chinami Tokunaga; A member of the Judgement Squad (School Committee), serving under Aoyama.

Nina Faction

Haru Maihama (舞浜はる, Maihama Haru): Portrayed by Sayuki Takagi; High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism. She is part of the Nina Faction (ニーナ派, Nina-ha).
Natsu Hakkeijima (八景島なつ, Hakkeijima Natsu): Portrayed by Kurumi Yoshihashi; High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism. She is part of the Nina Faction.
Aki Daiba (台場あき, Daiba Aki): Portrayed by Nanami Tanabe; High school year 1 student. She adores Nina and imitates Nina's appearance and mannerism. She is part of the Nina Faction.

Elite Butai

Satoko Komaba (駒場聡子, Komaba Satoko): Portrayed by Saki Nakajima; She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle of the school which is divided by a yellow-line boundary that indicates "elite area." One of the top 3 students of the elites and the leader of the Elite Butai (エリート部隊). She wants to over take the school and get rid of the Outer Circle. Both her parents are university professors and her older brother is studying in Harvard University.
Tomoko Mita (三田智子, Mita Tomoko): Portrayed by Chisato Okai; She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle and also one of the top 3 student of the elites.
Yuko Yotsuya (四谷優子き, Yotsuya Yuko): Portrayed by Mai Hagiwara; She is a student in the Advance Class and Inner Circle and also one of the top 3 student of the elites.

Devil Sisters

Akina Sugamo (巣鴨明奈, Sugamo Akina): Portrayed by Kei Yasuda; Leader of the Devil Sisters (デビルシスターズ) and a 3rd year student held back for 15 years.
Seiko Akasuka (浅草聖子, Asakusa Seiko): Portrayed by Kaori Iida; Sub-Leader of the Devil Sisters and a 3rd year student held back for 15 years.

Tomoko Harajuku (原宿ともこ, Harajuku Tomoko): Portrayed by Momoko Tsugunaga; A mysterious transfer student who prides herself as most cute and used it as a confrontation with Sayuri. She has won a battle against Sayuri in the past.
Tsutomi Imawaka (イマワカ勤, Imawaka Tsutomu): Portrayed by Tetsuya Makita; A student teacher in class 2-A. Mami is in love with him.
Reiko Shirogane (白金麗子, Shirogane Reiko): Portrayed by Erina Mano; A transfer student with a princess-like personality and is very selfish. She changes the rules of the school the moment she arrives without permission and increases her number of friends with bribes. She is the daughter of the president of the Shirogane Corporation.
Yu Meguro (目黒ゆう, Meguro Yu): Portrayed by Karin Miyamoto; Reiko's attendant.
