SMT House

SMT House (stylized as SMT HOUSE) is a food complex and restaurant in Cheongdam launched by SM Entertainment on January 27, 2016. The restaurant has five stories, each of which has different style and concept. The first and second floors offer a space for lunch, deserts and café in the daytime and for Spanish tapas restaurant at night.[2][3] On the 3rd and 4th floors (which require reservations) diners can order a one course specialty called, "Seoul Tapas Style."[4] South Korea's entertainment firm SM Entertainment Co. Thursday opened its multi-complex restaurant SMT Seoul in the posh neighborhood of Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.

History

Despite its sky-high ambitions, the restaurant marks SM's third attempt at penetrating the food market. In 2008, the company opened the Korean restaurant e-table, but eventually had to close its doors in 2011. The following year SM attempted to open the Chi Mc pub in collaboration with the local hamburger joint Kraze, but the project ended up going bust at the last minute[5]

Expansion

According to officials at SM, the agency has tentative plans to launch the restaurant franchise overseas, with aims of opening an SMT Tokyo and an SMT LA sometime later this year.[5]

SMT Tokyo

SMT TOKYO is the first overseas branch of SMT HOUSE after SMT SEOUL. It is a multiplex dining space that serves various creative dishes prepared by SM based on the concept of 'Seoul Style Tapas' that reinterprets global cuisines with a modern Seoul rendition.[6]
