SS Balmes
SS Balmes was a Spanish steamship that caught fire in 1913. The Cunard Line steamship SS Pannonia with Captain Robert Capper rescued 103 men, women, and children from the burning steamship Balmes in mid-ocean. Balmes was operated by Captain Juan Ruiz.[1] The ship was towed to St. George's harbor in Bermuda by the tugs Gladisfen and Powerful, convoyed by Pannonia.[2]
