San José Fútbol Club is a Mexican professional football team based in Yautepec, Morelos, Mexico currently playing in Liga de Balompié Mexicano. The team was originally based in San José de Gracia, Michoacán.

History

In February 2020, the club's board took part in the initial meetings for the establishment of a new soccer league in Mexico, the Liga de Balompié Mexicano, at that time, the team had the name Real San José.[1][2]

On May 30, still without receiving the official registration, the team announced Eduardo Bacas as manager and Carlos Reinoso Jr. as his assistant.[3] However, three weeks later Bacas resigned for personal reasons,[4] to later sign with Atlético Capitalino.[5] To replace Bacas, the board appointed Raúl Gutiérrez in his place.[6] On July 2, Marcelo Alatorre was announced as the first player in the club's history.[7][8]

On July 20, the club was officially confirmed as a new participant in the league, in addition, the team was renamed as San José F.C.[9]

On October 14, 2020, the club played its first official game, this match was the first in the LBM history, San José F.C. defeated Morelos F.C. by score of 1–0. Omar Rosas scored the first goal in the history of the club and the competition.[10]

In November 2020 the team began to suffer an institutional crisis due to administrative problems that led to delays in the payment of salaries of players and coaching staff for more than three months, therefore, the club was acquired by new owners who ensured continuity, however, the new board relocated the team to Yautepec, Morelos, in addition to firing the original coaching staff and the most important players on the squad.[11][12]

On December 1, 2020, the club's franchise was put on hiatus by the LBM due to financial problems and the lack of a new board of directors that can provide financial support to the club. The team could return in the following season if it manages to improve its financial situation and complies with the guidelines of the competition.[13][14]

Stadium

The first stadium was the Estadio Juanito Chávez, situated in San José de Gracia, Michoacán. It has the capacity to hold 1,500 spectators.[15]

As of November 18, 2020, the team changed its field to the Centro Deportivo Yautepec, located in Yautepec, Morelos, which has a capacity to accommodate 3,000 spectators. In February 2020, the stadium was reopened after a modernization process.[16]
