Writing and broadcasting
Horton hosts Antiwar Radio for Pacifica Radio's KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles,[1] as well as the podcast The Scott Horton Show.[1] Horton has conducted over 5,000 interviews since 2003.[1] He is also the director of the Libertarian Institute.[1]
Horton is the editorial director of the non-interventionist news portal Antiwar.com.[1] He was previously the host of Say It Ain't So on Free Radio Austin 97.1 FM, the Weekend Interview Show and the KAOS Report on Radio KAOS 95.9 FM, for which he won The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin award in 2007 for "Best Iraq War Coverage".[2]
Horton's book Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan (2017) is an account of the War in Afghanistan since 2001, which argues that the United States should end its presence in the country.[3] The American Conservative described the work as a "masterful account of America’s prolonged Afghan engagement."[4] Disabled combat veteran of the Korangal Valley campaign, Adam House, gave high praise for Fool's Errand: "Probably not since former CIA Osama bin Laden Unit Director Michael Scheuer anonymously published his book ‘Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror,’ has there been such a comprehensive expose of the American government’s folly and fraud in pursuing the foolishness of long-term military occupation in this “pivot area” of global hegemony."[5] Horton frequently appears on the Unregistered podcast produced by Thaddeus Russell, historian and author of A Renegade History of the United States.[6]
A presentation on Fool’s Errand delivered to the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania was featured on C-SPAN's Book TV series in 2018.[7]
In 2019, Horton edited and published the collection of interviews The Great Ron Paul: The Scott Horton Show Interviews 2004–2019.[8]
On February 29, 2020, Horton gave a presentation on U.S. foreign policy at the Libertarian Party of King County Convention in Redmond, WA.[9]
On January 16th, 2021, The Libertarian Institute published his book Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism, a scathing indictment of the U.S.'s role in global conflicts and call to action to end the War on Terror.[10]
Politics
In late 2019, Horton joined the Libertarian Party to support Jacob Hornberger’s presidential campaign.[11]
