Born in Clonakilty, County Cork, White was first introduced to Gaelic games in his youth. He enjoyed success in both hurling and Gaelic football at Clonakilty Community College while simultaneously enjoying success as a dual player at underage levels with Clonakilty. White has since gone on to become a key member of the Clonakilty senior team.

White made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team. After little success in this grade, he later won two Munster medals with the under-21 team. White made his senior debut during the 2016 championship.[2] He was later joined on the team by his brother Mark.
