Released as the album's second single in February 1983,[1] the single, influenced by Donna Summer's seminal "I Feel Love", became a cult hit on American radio and brought the group into the mainstream. Despite the significant attention, the song's racy lyrics resulted in it being banned from several radio stations.[2] The single peaked at No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in late March and early April 1983.[3][4] The song was also the first single release from the band's new label, Geffen Records.

According to disc jockey Richard Blade, the song's lyrics referenced his relationship with Nunn.[5]

Cover versions

Canadian electroclash musician Peaches covered the song as a bonus track for her albums The Teaches of Peaches[6] and Fatherfucker.[7]

Canadian industrial musician Renee Cooper (aka Zombie Girl) covered the song for the bonus disc to her 2007 Blood, Brains and Rock 'N' Roll album.

Lovage covered the song in 2001 on Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By.

American industrial metal band Rorschach Test covered the song on the 1998 album Unclean.

"Weird Al" Yankovic covered the chorus of the song in 1984 on his second album, "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D, as part of the track "Polkas on 45", a polka medley of rock and pop songs.

Australian producer/DJ Mike Felks released a cover of the song in 2009, featuring Annemarie.[8]
