Sitagu International Buddhist Academy

The Sitagu International Buddhist Academy (Burmese: သီတဂူကမ္ဘာ့ဗုဒ္ဓတက္ကသိုလ်) is a Buddhist missionary university, located in Sagaing, Myanmar. The academy was founded in 1994 by Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara. The academy teachs and trains Buddhist literature to monks, nuns and students.[1]

History

The Sitagu Association, Myanmar, headed by Ashin Nyanissara, began construction on Sitagu International Buddhist Academy in 1994.

Location

The university is situated just beneath the Sun U Ponnyashin Pagoda in the narrow plain separating the western-most spur of the Sagaing Hills and the Minwun ridge. There are 6 buildings with classrooms, offices, research centre, meditation centers, libraries and halls including Savatti Hall, Kappilavatthu Hall, Lumbini Hall, Nalanda Hall, the Adhipati's Residence, Gandhara Hall, Rajagaha Hall and Devadaha Hall.
