Society of Young Publishers

The Society of Young Publishers (SYP) was founded in 1949. Its main aim is to allow young publishers to network, exchange ideas, and learn more about the industry. Previously restricted to people under 36, the constitution was amended in 2007 to also allow people ‘young to publishing’ to join. The SYP is currently composed of two committees, which run events in London and Oxford. However, the SYP is looking to open up further branches in the UK, and is examining whether its model could be adopted in other countries. The SYP publishes the magazine InPrint approximately 5 times a year, and holds monthly speaker meetings and other social events. The SYP holds an annual conference, which the London and Oxford committees take turns to organise.
