History

Founded in 2015, Basketball Australia granted the Stars a WNBL licence following the collapse of Logan Thunder after the 2013-14 season.[1] It was later announced that Shane Heal would coach a team headlined by Opals players Erin Phillips, Rachel Jarry & Rebecca Allen. The Stars made their WNBL debut on October 9, 2015 at home against the Bendigo Spirit. Less than six months later the Stars ran into financial difficulty and was placed into liquidation before sponsorship funds temporarily saved the team.[2]
