History and background
Before starting Spiritbox in 2016, husband and wife duo Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer were both in iwrestledabearonce.[3][4] In September 2020, the group announced that they signed with Rise Records, as part of the label's partnership with Pale Chord Records.[5]
Holy Roller
The band found widespread critical and commercial success with the release of the single Holy Roller in July 2020. The original version of the song spent seven weeks as No.1 on SiriusXM Liquid Metal's “Devil’s Dozen” and was deemed the station's No.1 song of 2020.[6][7][8] The track also accumulated more than 1.5 million views on YouTube in six months.[9]
Touring
Spiritbox is scheduled to play at the 2021 UK Download Festival.[10] The band has previously toured in support of After the Burial.[11]
Musical style
The group employs several musical styles and has been described as progressive metal, djent, metalcore, among other genres.[12][13] Lead singer Courtney LaPlante has cited the Deftones, Tesseract, and Kate Bush as influences.[14][15]
