History
A 10 hectare lot was acquired near Sepsi Arena in 2017, in order to build a new youth center and a venue capable of hosting top level professional games.[2] As part of the Hungarian government's plans to build football establishments in the neighboring countries bearing ethnic Hungarians, Sepsi OSK was granted in total 2 billion Hungarian forints during 2017 and 2018 to be used for developing club infrastructure, thus covering approximately €6 million out of the €15 million project.[3] Ground was broken in the summer of 2018.[4] Besides the stadium the infrastructural development project included a full size grass football pitch, a full size synthetic football pitch, a reduced size grass football pitch[5] and an office building.[6] The stadium itself was designed by local architect Csaba Németh while the facade that evokes the architectural styles of Imre Makovecz and Károly Kós[7] was commissioned from Tamás Dobrosi.[8] With the initial completion date having been surpassed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the stadium is expected to be opened in the second half of 2021.[9]
