Steven Duggar

Steven Michael Duggar (born November 4, 1993) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Clemson University. He was drafted by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his MLB debut in 2018.

Amateur career

Duggar attended James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina. He then played college baseball at Clemson University.[1][2] In 2013, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and returned to the league in 2014 to play for the Falmouth Commodores and was named a league all-star.[3][4] After his junior year, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, and signed for a signing bonus of $248,800.[5][6]

Professional career

Duggar made his professional debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, spending the whole 2015 season there, batting .293/.390/.367 with one home run and 27 RBIs in 58 games. He started 2016 with the San Jose Giants and after posting a .284 batting average with nine home runs and 30 RBIs was promoted to the Richmond Flying Squirrels in June, where he finished the season, batting .321/.391/.432 with one home run, 24 RBIs, and an .823 OPS. He was named to the MiLB Giants organization All Star team.[7] Duggar's 2017 season was limited due to injury; he played only 44 total games between the AZL Giants, San Jose, and the Sacramento River Cats, posting a combined .262 batting average with six home runs and 26 RBIs between the three teams.[8]

Duggar was called up to the majors for the first time on July 8, 2018, and made his major league debut batting leadoff.[9][10] In 141 at bats for the Giants he batted .255/.303/.390 with two home runs and 17 RBIs.[11]

In 2019 for the Giants, in 261 at bats he hit .234/.278/.341 with four home runs and 28 RBIs.[11] In 2020, Duggar played in only 21 games, hitting .176 with 3 RBIs.
