Plot

BoJack deals with self-hatred and depression after his mother and her nurse move into his house. His inner-monologue plays out, as he continuously berates himself for his past and present choices and actions. Meanwhile, Princess Carolyn continues to push for a sham marriage between Todd and Courtney Portnoy—a request that becomes more difficult for Todd as his comfort level with his asexuality increases.[2]

Reception

"Stupid Piece of Sh*t" received largely positive reviews from critics. Les Chappell of AV Club gave the episode an "A" grade, calling it "brutally honest" and "completely accurate in [its] portrayal" of depression.[3] Similarly, in Polygon, Julia Alexander called the episode "the most honest, brutal and necessary episode about depression" on TV, and hailed it as "one of television's most important to date".[4] On Vice's Tonic, Emma Sarappo praised the show for having "never shied away from the realities of BoJack's issues".[5]
