Sudanese in Norway

Sudanese in Norway are citizens and residents of Norway who are of Sudanese descent. They form one of the country's smaller immigrant groups.

Demographics

According to Statistics Norway, in 2017, there was a total 3,697 immigrants from Sudan living in Norway. Of those, 622 individuals were born in Norway to immigrant parents.[2] In 2019 the number had risen to 5,854 people.[3] Most of the Sudanese in Norway have come to Norway as asylum seekers.

Education

According to Statistics Norway, as of 2016, among a total 3,354 Sudan-born immigrants aged 16 and older, 1,912 individuals had attained a below upper secondary education level, 375 had attained an upper secondary education level, 32 had attained a tertiary vocational education level, 628 had attained a higher education level of up to four years in duration, 286 had attained a higher education level of more than four years in duration, and 121 had no education.[4]

Employment

According to Statistics Norway, as of 2017, Sudan-born immigrants aged 15–74 in Norway have an unemployment rate of around 6.4%.[5]
