Playing career

International

Yekka made her senior national team debut at age 16, on October 30, 2013 against South Korea in Edmonton, Alberta. She played the first half of a 3–0 win.[2] On May 8, 2014 she played the full 90 minutes of a 1–1 draw against the United States in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in front of the second largest crowd to ever watch a women's soccer game in Canada.[3] She scored her first international goal on December 6, 2015 against Jamaica in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, during the group stage of the 2015 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship.[2] As her 13 senior caps for Canada have been in friendly matches, she remains eligible to play for Uganda (making the one-time change of association first).

Personal

Though she was born in Toronto, Ontario, her family had recently moved to Mississauga.[2] Both of Yekka's parents are originally from Uganda, her father was born in Obongi while her mother is originally from Arua. She is a graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School.
