Controversies

During the promotions of his movie Kaththi Sandai, he made comments about actresses in Tamil cinema which were deemed sexist, saying that they are paid to wear less clothes and that he makes sure they wear revealing clothes to satisfy "low class" audiences.[5]

This angered many of the netizens and Nayanthara as well as the film's heroine Tamannah has spoken out condemning such cheap statements made by Suraj.[6] Later that day, he apologised and took back his statement.
