Early life and education
Bhatnagar was born in Nashik. She graduated with a BA degree in communication design from Pearl Academy. During her study period, she started a film project called Supriya, My mother to explain her memories of growing up with her mother suffering from schizophrenia. She initiated a creative approach to change the general attitude of society towards schizophrenia patients and also working to raise mental health awareness.[4][5] She has lived in Chennai, Gangtok and Rajasthan due to her father's commitments in the army. She stated during the interview with Rolling Stone (India) that:
In my adolescence, I went through a lot of emotional turmoil because I had started to lose my mother to schizophrenia. But somehow that also made me dive into music. It saved me and kept me connected to my mother somehow.[2]
