David Hasselhoff said of his co-star, " Joan Collins is wonderful to work with, funny, very sexy and the consummate professional always prepared and line perfect." This went against popular belief at the time that Ms Collins was a diva on set and after several cast and crew of various productions came forward to sing Joan Collins praises, the general public came to see her in a new light. Additionally, Joan herself said that, because the roles she was offered tended to be either " the Villainess" or powerful, sometimes ruthless women, she had seen the lines blurred between public perception of the actress and the actual lady behind these roles. In one Instance Joan attended her sons school and delivered a speech essentially addressing this issue.
This came not long after starring in her sister " Jackie Collins" best-selling novels turned Films "The Stud"and "The Bitch" where Joan was labelled as such. Joan explained to an auditorium of young school boys that, just because someone plays a murderer doesn't mean you are a murderer. Eventually, after working with actors like David Hasselhoff, Gene Kelly, Fran Drescher and Shirley MacLaine, all of whom said of Joan how warm and professional she was, seemingly reinforcing the misconception that Joan was difficult. Furthermore, actors and actresses who carry on with " star like behavior" rarely sustain a long and successful career as Joan has.
