The Geneva School

Geneva employs a Christian classical education model. This trivium model of education consists of three distinct stages: grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric.

Grammar (Grades K4–6) makes use of a student's innate curiosity, inquisitiveness, and ability to absorb the basic material of a subject. It is the acquisition stage of learning where questions of who, what and when are explored. In this first stage, students master such fundamentals as arithmetic tables, scientific formulas, biblical narratives, Latin paradigms, and cultural histories from Mesopotamia to our own time.

Dialectic (Grades 7–8) uses a student's natural inclination to question and analyze. In this investigative stage of learning, students acquire the tools of logic and critical thought to build the framework to ask meaningful questions and pursue deeper truths.

Rhetoric (Grades 9–12) teaches students how to communicate the grammar and dialectic disciplines in an effective, persuasive, and winsome manner. In short, their confidence in how to think for themselves, as well as how to live a life pleasing to God, is built up by developing a capacity to present their views through speech, through writing, and, indeed, through their very lives.

The Geneva School athletic teams are known as the Knights. Dan Harger has served as athletic director since 1999. The Knights are full members of FHSAA and compete at the 2A level in most sports. The Geneva School teams have won district championships in nearly all sports. Numerous individual district and regional championships have been achieved as well as many appearances at state level competition. In the 2018–19 season, the girls' volleyball team won the 2A state championship[3] and the overall program was awarded the Cary McDonald Athletic Program of the Year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, with the program finishing second in the 2A FHSAA Sunshine Cup. In 2020, varsity volleyball won their 10th consecutive district title and 12th in 14 years.

Athletes from The Geneva School have gone on to play at the college level in volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, cross country, and tennis.

In the fall of 2019, The Geneva School Upper School (7th–12th grades) moved into the new facility in Casselberry at the same location as the state-of-the-art outdoor athletic facility opened in 2016. The new building is the fruition of the capital campaign called Movement in G and boasts space for performing arts and athletics as well as classroom facilities equipped with modern educational technology. A future portion of the master plan includes building a new lower school (K4–6th grade) facility on the same 40-acre parcel, making it the largest dedicated private school campus in the Orlando Metropolitan Area.[4]
