Thingyan Moe
Thingyan Moe (Burmese: သင်္ကြန်မိုး, English: Rain in the Water Festival) is a 1985 Burmese film directed by Maung Tin Oo and starring Nay Aung, Zin Wine, Khin Than Nu and May Than Nu in pivotal roles. The movie follows the life of a musician from 1959 to 1982, with many of the scenes set against traditional Thingyan celebrations. This movie contains scenes from Mandalay's beautiful nature and shows two different ages of the Thangyan festival. Mandalay citizens helped produce this movie and they did not accept any cost. They only wanted to show their city's culture and historical places.[1]

Plot
Thingyan Moe is the story of Thingyan. The story begins with a poor pianist, Nyein Maung, and Khin Khin Htar, a wealthy teen girl of Mandalay. Despite the differences between them, they fall in love deeply. The problem begins when Htar asks Nyein Maung to elope but is forced to go to his sick mother instead. Due to Nyein Maung's absence, Htar is brought back by her mother and forced to accept an arranged marriage. Htar asks Nyein Maung to play 'Nat Ko To Chit tha mya' song at her wedding ceremony. At the ceremony Htar learns the reason why Nyein Maung couldn't come. After Htar's wedding ceremony, Neing Maung drinks too much alcohol and destroys his life. When he falls asleep, he dreams about Htar giving money to him and thinks that Htar left him because of money. After several months, Nyein Maung marries Mya Khet. Then the movie turns into studio musical age.

Shooting and overview
The film was produced by Yee Myint Film Production, but won the Thurya Pya Film Award at the Filmfare Awards. Born into a family of board members of the Mandalay Film Company, Yee Myint Films had to buy films from the government in the name of licensed film companies because it was not possible to buy foreign films due to the government's economic policy at the time. Therefore, it was released under the title Thuriya Pahya, a film owned by Prince University Patriots and actress Khin Ohn Myint. Daw Khin Ohn Myint acted as Khin Than Nu's mother.
The filming took place at the Ye Myint Film Building in Mandalay's Sai Tan Ward and at Dr. Thein Aung Temple in Pwe Kone, and the piano was filmed inside Nyein Maung's house at Sein Maung Studio in Rangoon.
The film was described as the novel Khin Maung Aye (Mandalay) but is said to be the story of director Maung Tin Oo. Khin Maung Aye (Mandalay) was a colonel who was then the managing director of the Information and Press Corporation at the time and was a cousin of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. It is said that when Khin Maung Aye was in power at the time, the novel was named Khin Maung Aye (Mandalay) in order to get permission to submit the story smoothly.
The film, which was made with newcomers at the beginning, was not very successful, but it has been very successful since then. The words "Kyawan Taw of the women" in the film were censored.
