On November 29, 2019, it was announced that members Taeha and Yeonwoo had officially left the group. On December 10, it was announced that the group will return as a six member group with members Hyebin, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin and Nancy, at the end of December. It was also noted that member Daisy was still in discussion about her contract.[1]

On December 12, it was announced that the group will release a single album titled Thumbs Up on December 30 at 6 p.m. KST. It was discussed that the sound will have a "newtro" sound and will show a new image for the group.[2]

The song was written and composed by Duble Sidekick, Bull$EyE, Ondine, De view and Kim Do Da Ri.[3]

The song debuted and peaked at number 137 on the Gaon Digital Chart for the week ending January 4, 2020, placing at number 29 on the componing Download Chart and at number 176 on the componing Streaming Chart.[4][5][6] It dropped the following week.

The single album debuted at number 4 on the Gaon Album Chart for the week ending January 4, 2020.[7] In its second week, the album dropped to number 67 and to number 75 in its third week. In its fourth and final week, the album dropped to number 100.[8][9][10] It also entered at number 41 on the Gaon Album Chart for the month of January 2020 with 5,688 copies sold.[11]
