Tuluva Brahmin

Tulu Brahmins or Tuluva Brahmins are the inhabitants of Tulu Nadu, also considered a part of Parashurama Kshetra which extends to Kerala.

They consist of following:[1]

  • Sthanika Brahmins, also called "Sthanika Tulu Brahmins" or "Tulu Brahmins" are the original inhabitants of Tulu Nadu whose history predates 380 B.C. Even Tuluva Hebbars, Brahmins from Kollur who migrated to Kabbinale and then to Puttur, are related to them in ancient times.[2]

The remaining sub-sects of Brahmins of Tulu Nadu are immigrant exodus from other regions of India.

First migration: Later part of the 9th century A.D.

Second migration: 11th century A.D.
