Uniara

Uniara is a town and a municipality in Tonk district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. it is a tehsil of Tonk district.[1]

Geography

Uniara is located at 25.92°N 76.02°E / 25.92; 76.02.[2] It has an average elevation of 266 metres (872 feet). Uniyara have galwa dam which is eight largest dam in Rajasthan it is situated three km away from uniyara city. It have major forest area situated along arawali hills passing through the Banetha and kakor major towns.Banas is major river passing through the tehsil, also have Balwaan river. It is one of ancient city of Tonk District.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[3] Uniara had a population around of 15,827. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Uniara has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 42%. In Uniara, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Uniara is located on National Highway No. 552. Nearest Railway station is Sawai Madhopur, 39 km and district headquarters Tonk, 36 km. Nearest Airport is Jaipur, 136 km. Uniara is well connected from Jaipur, Kota, Bundi, Ajmer by road. Uniara is located at 54 km on the way to Ranthambhore National Park from State Capital of Rajasthan Jaipur. Near Uniara there is a place of tourist attraction at village 'Kheda' 15 km on the way from Uniara to tonk near village Kakod. At village 'Kheda' there is a real size elephant carved out of stone. There is a Heritage Palace at Uniara, city has some large Hindu & Jain temples(historical), and Uniara fort worth visiting for their architecture. Best season to visit Uniara is October to February. Meena, Gurjar, Mali, Rajputs and Jains are major caste in tehsil. Banetha, Kakod,Nagarfort and Aligarh are major towns in tehsil. It is peaceful tehsil never any riots occurred here.

Rajasthan School of Painting

Uniara had an important school of Indian painting in the 18th century that was an offshoot of the Bundi school. Prominent painters, who served under the ruler Sirdar Singh, included Dhano and Mira Bagas (Mir Baksh).

Economy

Uniara economy is based on agriculture. Galwa dam is major source of irrigation, it covers the most of area of tehsil. Musterd, urad and moongs are major crops cultivated in tehsil. Mining of sands and stone also boost the economy of residing people's. Place to visit :- Hathi Bhata,Shree ji Mahraj Temple Banetha,Kakod fort,Khairadi ji ka temple Fatehganj etc.
