Uurja is the annual cultural festival and is celebrated for two days at the UPES Campus. Wow Wednesdays is a mid-week activity that allows students to unwind. This is planned to break the monotonous routine by providing students a platform to showcase their talent. Other prominent cultural and co-curricular events include Ignite, Hackathon, Design Fest, and Nitro RC Championship.[21]

Sports activities

At UPES, students participate in a variety of games and sports that are organised at regular intervals in the university – UPES Annual Athletics Meet, Intra Mural Tournaments (All Sports), Inter-University Participation, Yoga and Meditation and Khel Utsav – UPES Sports Festival.[21]

National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has been in operation in UPES since April 2018. The fundamental objective of the NSS is to awaken and enrich the social consciousness of students. The scheme provides an opportunity for students to engage in constructive social action, programs, develop co-operative team spirit and gain skills in democratic leadership quality.[22]

Health and medical services

The University provides its students first-aid support in the Infirmary. It is also equipped with ambulance evacuation and two male and two female doctors to provide medical support to the students. Medical assistance, which is beyond the infirmary, is facilitated through a high-tech medical ambulance that has emergency management facilities. All the registered students in UPES are medically insured for a sum of INR 100,000. The insurance also covers road accident causality.

Remedial coaching

Understanding the importance of supporting the students to overcome their learning difficulties and gain confidence and interest in learning, remedial classes are planned and organised each year. The remedial classes are conducted for the students whose performance is not up to the mark, i.e., for the students who secure less than 40% marks in Mid-Term Examination. These classes help the slow learners to fill the gaps in the teaching learning process, which may be due to their slow learning pace, lack of understanding, lack of motivation to practice the problems etc. and ultimately enhance their learnings and skills, resulting in improvement in their performance.
