Ushasie Chakraborty

Ushasie Chakraborty is an Indian actress and academic who works in Bengali language films. She played the role of Satyabati in Anjan Dutt's film adaptations on Byomkesh Bakshi. She is playing the role of 'June' in Bengali television show called Sreemoyee, airs on Star Jalsha

Career

Chakraborty has worked in the films like Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona, Bedroom etc.[1] She has played the role of Satyabati in every film of Anjan Dutt's celluloid adaptation of Byomkesh Bakshi.[2] She is the daughter of veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Shyamal Chakraborty.[3] In 2011, she campaigned for the CPI(M) before the 2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.[4] In an interview of June 2011 she felt her father's political identity is a disadvantage for her in the film industry.[1] She is a Professor of Economics in Syamaprasad College, at the University of Calcutta. She recently completed her PHD from Jadavpur University on the Role of Communist Women in the Politics of India.[5]
