Early life

Vadym Ivchenko grew up in the military family. His father Ivchenko Evgeny Ivanovych was born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan and was a Soviet Army Colonel. The family moved a lot, along with the service duty. Being born in Usuriisk, USSR, where his father was stationed at the time, Vadym spent his formative years living and going to school in Primorskiy Krai, USSR, then in Grozny, Checnia and finally moving to Uzyn, Ukraine. His father taught him army discipline, strong will, respect, honor, loyalty and devotion to country and duty. His mother Plishakova Liudmyla Mykolaivna born in Sibirtsevo, Primorsky Krai, USSR, was a military economist and accountant, she taught him order and love towards the studies. Ivchenko recalls that when he was a young boy in school, the teacher showcased his neat and orderly backpack as an exemplary in front of a classroom. And while being devoted to sports, box in particular, he was one of the few boys in the sport’s team who actually was passionate about studying and learning. - “My mother, a fragile, tiny woman inspired me with treasures of knowledge. She said that nothing is impossible if you study hard and read. Learning will open new horizons and elevate you above the mundane. And study I did, always getting best grades and excel at scores in examinations, reading non stop and yarning for more. I wouldn’t be where I am if not for her faith in me and her positive influence on me.”- recalls Ivchenko. Among some of the special moment from his formative years, Ivchenko recalls spending time with soldiers: -“My father, as a colonel was feared and highly respected by all the soldiers. He was vey just and strict. I always mangled around the military base as a kid, my curiosity knew no limits. I bonded with soldiers, did sports with them, they taught me what true spirit of brotherhood was all about. And when my father would punish some of them for usual army slack, I would side with them and even partake in their fate: run cross with them, sit in the isolation... this was my childish way of showing my dad that I’m loyal to my comrades and side with them all the way, as if I was trying to prove their innocence, relive their experience or justify them in front of my father.” - recalls Ivchenko.
