In addition, a total of 99 students were inducted into the National Honor Society that same year.[12]

School Buses And Transportation

Director of Transportation

  • The Director of Transportation is Darren Everhart. He has the responsibilities of maintaining bus routing, as well as the hiring and training of current and new drivers alike. Darren also has the responsibility of taking care of misbehavior on buses.[13]
  • The District is in need of drivers, as there are more runs than drivers and this often causes tight scheduling, although the mechanics can fill in as needed, as they are required by their contract to have a bus driving endorsement.

Mechanics and buses

  • The District employs a fleet of 77 passenger Blue Bird Puller style buses, as well as ten "short" buses and five, eight-passenger vans. The District runs on a 100,000-mile or 10-year rotation of buses, and will generally buy five new buses per year, in accordance with the budget.
  • Every month, all of the buses are inspected by the New York State Department of Transportation.
  • The District employs four highly capable and educated bus mechanics, one of which serves as the head mechanic. Each mechanic will service and performs inspections on the buses. The largest job so far that has been done in house has been a complete rebuild of five international 3800's diesel engines.
  • The Transportation Building houses five bays, two of which are equipped with 77 passenger bus lifts, and another has a small car lift for small buses and vans. Two mechanics work mostly on the 77 passenger buses, while one will work on the smaller vehicles. The fourth is responsible for hiring, book keeping, parts inventory and daily driver report filling.
