Viničné Šumice lies approximately 16 kilometres (10 mi) east of Brno and 199 km (124 mi) south-east of Prague.

History

The first written mention of Šumice is from 1350. In 1925 the name of the municipality was changed to Viničné Šumice (from vinice, meaning "vineyard").[2]

Economy

Viničné Šumice is the northernmost wine municipality in Moravia.[2]
