WZUU
WZUU (92.5 FM, "The ZUU [Zoo]") is a radio station broadcasting a Mainstream Rock format which leans towards Arena Rock, like power ballad and glam metal artists from the 1980s until current times. Licensed to Mattawan, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1990 under the WKGH call sign. During the first few years of the radio station, it broadcast oldies from a satellite feed. On Memorial Day 1995, the station began to broadcast an alternative and modern rock-styled format. The then-owners of the station were operating it under a heavy loss, so it was sold after a couple of years, and the new owners changed the format to classic rock in the middle of May 1997. There were several format adjustments from classic rock to active rock and back, due to low ratings. The station got permission from the FCC to move to a new frequency (it originally was on 92.3) and increase its power from the original 860 watts it was broadcasting with, to the present 6,000 watts. This change was made effective Friday, January 12, 2007 at 4pm.
