Racism

During a baseball game between Waverly-Shell Rock High and Charles City High School on June 29, 2020, individuals from Waverly-Shell Rock High were heard insulting an African-American teenager on the opposing team with overtly and unapologetic racist taunts.[6] Some of these comments are quoted as such: "You should have been George Floyd" and "Get back to the fields." [6] Upon reproach for their behavior by the player, the Waverly-Shell Rock High participants began chanting "TRUMP 2020" in response.[6] At the time of this posting, no disciplinary action has been made available regarding the individuals involved.[6]
