The Visual Arts Department
Weston Ranch's Visual Arts Department believes that studying the arts is an essential component to educating the whole person. The Visual Arts Department offers a broad and stimulating curriculum suitable for all levels of ability and interests. Curriculum is based on the National and State Standards for the Visual Arts. All Visual Arts courses meet the U.C. a-g requirements. Graduation requirements include the completion of at least one year of study in either the Visual or Performing Arts.
Classes are designed to provide technical information, historical and cultural background and a myriad of opportunities to explore and develop craftsmanship, aesthetics, and creativity. Studio work is supplemented with slides, videos, lectures, individual and group projects, speakers, journalism, sketchbooks, art discussions and criticism. Student work is showcased at the school during Spotlight on the Arts, and at the District Art Show and local competitions.
