Critical reception
In his review of Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins, Ned Raggett from AllMusic noted that the song "finds Russell rapping (!)".[1] Music & Media commented, "We're living in the age of fast food Euro with one-liners serving as lyrics. Luckily the Sparks still use their imagination—through a tooth filling the lover here receives a jazz station."[2]

A music video was made to accompany the song. It was directed by English music video director Sophie Muller,[3] who also directed the music video for "When Do I Get to Sing 'My Way'".
