Plot

‘Why does a Man rape’ is research against one of the dangerous yet ignored aspects of society, rapes. Women are treated as equals to goddesses, according to Indian culture yet are bullied, harassed, molested, and raped. Rape is not a new kind of offense people are witnessing but is a part of our history right from when we could remember. There were some periods in our history when rape wasn’t even a crime. So, what is actually meant by ‘rape’? Why are we witnessing a lot of such cases in the 21st century? Are people of previous generations not aware of it? Are all the people we consider as ‘religious gods’ really godly? What does history have to say about it? What drives criminals to commit such an inhumane act of torturing another human and leaving a scar for the rest of their life? What are other forms of lesser-known ‘rapes’ prevalent in our society?

The book answers a lot of such questions backed with scientific and statistical facts based on research in psychology, history, and mythology. The author ‘Jasbir Singh’ interviewed quite a number of serious rape offenders to know their side of the story as a part of his research. It focused on the impact such an incident could leave upon the life of a victim and the ways in which people could help in understanding their plight and making this society a better place to live.[2][3][4]

"If you ever witness the sexual assault, or even just something that doesn't feel right, just don't stand by. Call it out directly, once you feel safe enough at the moment. If sacred, let an adult or a police officer know. Don't hesitate to call out sexist jokes or language that perpetuates rape culture. Because you not only demand justice for yourself but also for numerous people with such problems." "Sex isn't a taboo and you, as a teacher, a mentor, or a parent can play a significant role in making this society a better place to live by just talking openly about adolescence and sex to your child."
