WinCos is a plant control system for the process industry. It is a modular system, so the scope of the application can be tailored to the specific customer requirements. WinCos is tailored for process industries such as flour and feed mills, grain handling terminals, material handling, chocolate processing and pasta plants. The name WinCos originates from Window Control system.
Software and hardware concept
WinCos combines the three typical parts of a plant control system. The control/PLC level where the process interlocking is secured, the HMI level presenting the graphical display of the process and the SCADA/MES (Manufacturing execution system)/MIS (Management Information System).
WinCos covers the typical levels of the process automation pyramid:
- Plant Management Level
- Process Management Level
- Control Level
- Process / Field Level
Software
WinCos in its Release 2 is based on Microsoft .NET Framework. The HMI part is flexible and most of the solutions of industrial leaders such as Siemens WinCC, Allen Bradley FactoryTalk and Wonderware InTouch can be integrated.
Hardware
WinCos supports the communication to Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC's. Different I/O systems connected via a Fieldbus can be controlled and the number of Input/Output are limited by the Fieldbus and the PLC.
History
The first release of WinCoS was launched in 2001 and was installed in over 350 process plants. WinCos Release 2, previously called WinCoS.r2, is based on the first release.
