X-Cart

X-Cart, a division of Seller Labs,[1] is a US-based company headquartered in Athens, GA. It is also the name of its commercial shopping cart platform for online stores and the development agency. X-Cart was designed to fit the needs of online stores of any size, but works best for large stores and marketplaces.

It was originally released in 2001 by Creative Technologies LLC, a web development company that later worked on Ecwid. Upon release, it was the world's first PHP shopping cart software.[2] Today, X-Cart is reported to be used by over 30,000 e-stores in 111 countries around the world.[3]

History

Back in 2001, a serial entrepreneur Ruslan Fazlyev and his friends saw online stores emerging around the world and, at the same time, the lack of tools for building them quickly and efficiently. They developed X-Cart as the first-in-market open source PHP eCommerce platform.

In 2009, Creative Technologies released a freemium eCommerce solution Ecwid, in addition to the X-Cart line, which became an independent eCommerce solution later on.[4][5]

In 2009, X-Cart launched its PCI Level 1 certified payment application, X-Payments, that is used for easier PCI DSS compliance by online retailers using X-Cart, Magento, WooCommerce, and Zoey.

In 2011, Runa Capital invested in X-Cart.

In 2013, X-Cart launched its own hosting infrastructure, allowing all X-Cart users to host their online stores on their servers.

In 2014, X-Cart released its new product, named X-Cart 5, that quickly gained popularity for its modern modular architecture. At the same time, X-Cart Classic, also known as X-Cart 4, continued to be developed and updated.[3] By September 2014 X-Cart Cloud was listed by SitePoint as one of the best hosted e-commerce platforms.[6] Among other features, X-Cart Cloud allows certified developers to add custom functionality to customers’ hosted shops.[3][7]

In 2017, X-Cart tech support and customer care teams expanded to offer 24/7 support for customers and businesses all over the globe.

In October 2019, the leading Amazon marketplace expert company.[8]

In 2020, X-Cart moved to offering full solutions for enterprise online stores and B2B companies.

X-Cart offers integration with various shipping carriers(USPS, UPS, FedEx), payment providers and applications (PayPal, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay), tax automation systems (Avalara), marketing systems (Mailchimp). An additional X-Payments app makes it PCI-DSS compliant and adds support for 39 more payment providers in addition to the 14 in the basic package. It also ensures fraud screening for payments. Among other features, X-Cart allows certified developers to add custom functionality to customers’ hosted shops.[9][10][11]
