Yandex.News (Russian: Яндекс.Новости) is a Russian online news aggregator developed by Yandex. It has been operating since June 21 2000. Functions in RSS 2.0.[1]

Principle of operation

The service aggregates a news publications from various media that collaborate with Yandex (in the main the most read media of Russia and other countries). News information is grouped into plots. And on the basis of this, the information picture of the day is formed. This is done automatically, without a human intervention. Thanks to this, any event is covered from different points of view. Besides the texts there are a photo and video material in Yandex.News. Partners of Yandex.News (whose publications are aggregated in service) are both polythematic and specialized media. As of August 2016 Yandex.News had a 6700 partners.[1][2][3][4]

As of 2016 Yandex.News had a monthly audience over 25 million users, and in 2019 it was already over 30 million. Many media outlets receive a significant portion of their visitors through Yandex.News. For example, as of July 2019 Interfax had 35.9% of visitors from Yandex.News.[2][5][6]
