History

Early years

Żurrieq Football Club was founded in 1949 and is the oldest sport organisation in the locality of Żurrieq.

Domestic competition

Żurrieq F.C. participates in all competitions organized by the MFA and the YFA including the National, Under 19 and the Youth FA leagues. Żurrieq F.C. Youth Nursery is the institution which forms part of Żurrieq F.C. and which works to train the young footballers from the age of 8 years up to 16 years and enable them to participate in the competitions organized by the Maltese Youth FA.

European Debut

In 1982, Żurrieq F.C. took part in the first round of the 1982-83 UEFA Cup. Their debut was vs HNK Hajduk Split, losing 1–4 and 0–4. Three years later they played the first round in the 1985–86 European Cup Winners' Cup vs FC Bayer Uerdingen 05, losing 0–3 and 0–9. The next year they played in the first round of the 1986–87 European Cup Winners' Cup vs Wrexham F.C., losing 0–3 and 0–4.

Colours

In the original club constitution, Żurrieq's colours are named as red and white. For most of the club's early history, Żurrieq had primarily worn red and white striped shirts with either red or white shorts and red socks. The club's away kit has had a wide range of colours over the years, including white and blue.

Training facilities

Żurrieq F.C. training facilities, for both the First Team and the Junior Team, are located at the border of Żurrieq. There is a one 11 a-side artificial grass pitch with dressing rooms facilities and one 7 a-side artificial grass pitch also with dressing rooms facilities.

The club also has an indoor gym currently owned by Qualified Coach Mr.Julian Briffa in which personal training is being offered on a daily basis.

Zurrieq Wolves FC Youth Nursery is the football school managed by Zurrieq FC and Zurrieq Wolves ASC

It is in its early years of operating in the youth sector as this collaboration started in 2017 but due to Professional training methods and qualified coaches results are beginning to be seen.
