Summary

During Summer Bernabeu reinforced the squad with two french footballers right winger Luciano and Louis Hon from OGC Nice.[1] However, the team plummeted towards the 9th place in a bad campaign started with Michael Keeping[2] sacked on 23 October by Santiago Bernabeu after three massive losses against Real Sociedad (2-6), FC Barcelona (2-7) and Deportivo La Coruña (0-5). The club appointed Albeniz who could not improve the situation and was sacked on 5 March after another massive lost match (0-4) at Nervión.[3] Then, Bernabeu brought Uruguayan head coach Hector Scarone who managed the team towards the middle of the table avoiding the Second Division relegation.[4]

During June, Scarone could boost the squad which reached the 1951 Copa del Generalisimo Semifinals being defeated by Real Sociedad 0-3 after two legs of the series.
