The 1957 San Francisco State Gators football team represented San Francisco State College[note 1] during the 1957 NCAA College Division football season.

San Francisco State competed in the Far Western Conference (FWC).[note 2] The Gators were led by 8th-year head coach Joe Verducci. They played home games at Cox Stadium in San Francisco, California. The team finished the season as champion of the FWC, with a record of seven wins and three losses (7–3, 5–0 FWC). This was the second straight title for the Gators. For the season the team outscored its opponents 256–124.

  2. The Northern California Athletic Conference (NCAC) was known as the Far Western Conference (FWC) from its founding in 1925 to 1982.
  3. This was the fourth annual game against San Quentin Prison. All of the games were held within the walls of the prison itself.
  4. San Diego State University was known as San Diego State College from 1935 to 1971.
  5. Humboldt State University was known as Humboldt State College from 1935 to 1971.
  6. California State University, Fresno was known as Fresno State College from 1949 to 1971.
