Season overview

Ayhan Akman retired from his professional football career as of 13 May 2012, at the age of 35, after winning his fourth and last Turkish League title. Also, the club did not seek to elongate the contracts of some players, including Servet Çetin and Aykut Erçetin, therefore those footballers became free agents.

Galatasaray will begin the season on 4 July 2012, by commencing their Süper Lig campaign, in which they will be aiming for a 19th league title. Between 6 July and 15 July, Galatasaray will precede their 2012–13 campaign with an Austrian tour. The tour will begin with matches against two Austrian teams.[1]
