2025 Winter Universiade

The 2025 Winter Universiade, or XXXII Winter World University Games, is an upcoming, international multi-sport event scheduled for 2025. The winning bid for host city will be announced on May 2021.[1]

Bidding Process

On July 6, 2020, representatives from the City of Turin, Piedmont Region, University of Turin, Polytechnic of Turin, CUS Turin, EDISU and University of Eastern Piedmont formally announced their candidature to host the 2025 games.[2] The bid, known as "Torino 2025" includes intentions to add some para-sports events on the games and the 2025 Winter Special Olympics. The Italian government's Minister of Sport, Vincenzo Spadafora, confirmed his strong support for the candidature on July 7, 2020.[3] The city also hosted the 1959 and 1970 Summer Universiades and the 2007 Winter Universiade.The city also hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2006 Winter Paralympics and has a gigantic tradition of hosting sporting events.


The other 3 countries that announced their intentions to host the event were Switzerland, Finland and Sweden.
