Development

The film was launched on 8 October 2019 on the occasion of Vijayadasami tentatively titled as #Chiru152.[11] The film marks the maiden collaboration of Chiranjeevi with the director Koratala Siva.[12] Actress Trisha was cast as the lead female role but due to creative differences she walked out of the film.[13] Makers approached Kajal Aggarwal instead and Aggarwal confirmed that she was doing the film.[14] The title was accidentally revealed as Acharya by Chiranjeevi during audio launch of the film O Pitta Katha on 1 March 2020.[15][16] There were reports that Mahesh Babu was approached for an extended cameo.[17] However, Chiranjeevi confirmed that his son Ram Charan would be doing the role.[18][19]

Filming

Principal photography began in January 2020.[20][21] Important portions were shot with Chiranjeevi and others at Ramoji Film City.[17] The filming was going at a brisk pace until it was suspended in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.[22] The filming resumed in November 2020, and Kajal Aggarwal joined the sets of the film in Hyderabad in December 2020.[23][24] A temple town set spanning 20 acres in bulit up for the film.[1] Charan joined the production in January 2021, whose character is revealed as Siddha.[25]
