Adelardus Kilangi

Professor Adelardus Kilangi is the current Attorney General of Tanzania. He reappointed to continue serving in his fifth phase after the first term ended on October 2020.[1] Professor Kilangi succeeded George Masaju [2] and he is to serve in the 12nd Parliament of Tanzania. Prof. Kilangi sworn in by President John Pombe Magufuli on Monday November 9, 2020 at State House in Dodoma. Prof. Kilangi has carried out a number of consultancies and research works, especially in the area of institutional and organisational development, as well as the area of curriculum and academic programme development.

Early life and career

Professor Kilangi was born October 10, 1955. Prof. Kilangi was a member of the African Union Commission on International Law. He also served as the president of the commission from 2012 to 2014.[3] Prior to the appointment he was also a director at St. Augustine University of Tanzania and served at various capacities at the university. In 2013 Prof. Kilangi released research work, “The Principle of Permanent Sovereignty over Natural Resources: Its Application in Regulating the Mineral Sector in Tanzania.”[4][5]
