Akash Thosar

Akash Thosar (born 24 February 1994) is an Indian actor who appears in Marathi cinema and Bollywood.[2][3] He is known for his role as Parshya in the 2016 Marathi film Sairat.[4][5][6]

Career

Thosar was born and raised in a small village Jeur in Karmala in Solapur district, Maharashtra. A former wrestler,[7] Thosar was spotted at a railway station in Solapur by Bharat Manjule, Sairat director Nagraj Manjule's brother, inviting Akash to audition for the lead role.[8] He debut in film industry with movie Sairat in 2016 the immense success of these movie he get 5 crore rupees each as bonus.[9] Thosar later starred in the lead role in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Marathi movie FU: Friendship Unlimited in 2017.[10][11]

In the latest 2018 Netflix original “Lust Stories”, an anthology film, Thosar paired opposite Radhika Apte in the first story directed by Anurag Kashyap.[12] He will be seen in Jhund directed by Nagraj Manjule.[13][14][15][16][17] He is also casted in 1962: The War in the Hills as army officer.[18][19][20][21]

Awards

Akash Thosar won the best debut award (male) at the 3rd Jio Filmfare Awards Marathi 2017 for his performance in Sairat.[27][28]
