The one-to-one program in the Elementary School provides access in a 1-to-1 laptop ratio for grades 1-3 and an appropriate student-to-laptop ratio for PreK to KG. The school uses a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) plan so that children can bring their own technology to school.[2] Elementary (Grades 4-5), Middle, and High School students can bring any laptop that meets the minimum specs as specified by the school.

History

In 1981, a group of international parents started the American School of Bombay with 12 students in a room at the American Consulate. The idea was to offer an educational program that would help students make an easy transition from one international school to another. As the school grew, it moved from the American Consulate to nearby residential apartments. In November 1998, the school moved to its current campus in Bandra (a Mumbai suburb).

Governance

ASB is operated on a non-profit basis by the American School of Bombay Education Trust set up under the terms and conditions laid down by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees, elected by the parents and faculty, for a two-year term.. The Head of School is the Chief Executive Officer who is directly responsible to the Board of Trustees. The Head of School is aided by the Deputy Head of School, Principals of the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Institutional Advancement.
