In 2019,[2] the college got all approvals for admission to the MBBS course.

Objective of Autonomous State Medical College, Basti is to provide cost effective and top notch health services to the entire Basti region and will help to improve access to health services for coomon people of the state.

About college

The college imparts the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).[3] The college is affiliated with King George's Medical University and is recognized by the National Medical Commission.[4] Selection to the college is made based on merit through the National Eligibility and Entrance Test. The undergraduate student intake was 100 students in 2019. This college is also known as Maharshi Vashishtha Autonomous State Medical College, Basti (MVASMC Basti).[5]

ASMC Basti is spread over 18 acres of land.(7 acre for main building, academic building, official building, girls' and boys' hostel & 11 acre for JR and SR hostel, Nurse hostel, Residential quarters from type 3–6, an Auditorium and many more stuffs).

It's Hospital and OPD (OPEC Hospital) is about 4km away from college.

Location

Basti is situated 202 km east of State Capital Lucknow and Basti Railway station lies on the mainline connecting Lucknow with Gorakhpur and places of Bihar & Assam.

NH 28 also passes through Basti. Basti is situated somewhere between Ayodhya and Gorakhpur.

It is a fully functional 500 bedded hospital having central laboratory services, CT scan, X-ray, ICU, ICCU, PICU, OTs, 24 hours Emergency services and full strength of specialist staff is available in the hospital. OPEC Hospital is spread over 36 acres of land. This hospital has heavy patients load of Basti City.
