Avinash Sachdev (born 22 August)[1] is an Indian television actor known for portraying Dev in Chotti Bahu and Shlok Agnihotri in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir.[2][3]

Early life

Sachdev was born in Mumbai, India and brought up in Vadodara, India.[4] He completed his education in Vadodara. At an early age, he was interested in modelling and filmmaking. Sachdev went on to open several fashion stores in Mumbai.[5] He also won several pageant titles such as Mr Baroda, Mr University, and Mr Gujarat (2004–2005) that compelled him to participate in the Gladrags Model Hunt. Later, Sachdev developed his filmmaking skills by taking up several projects. Later, he shifted to his birth city where he went on to pursue his career in acting.[4]

Sachdev dated his co-star Rubina Dilaik from Chotti Bahu but broke up after four years in 2013.[6][7] Later, after dating for few years, Sachdev married his co-star of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon... Ek Baar Phir Shalmalee Desai on 12 June 2015.[8] However, they mutually got divorced in 2017.[9] In early 2019, Sachdev confirmed dating Palak Purswani.[10]

Career

Acting career

Initially, Avinash appeared in several television commercials that included a TVS Scooty commercial.[11]

He secured his first television role as a cameo in the soap opera Karam Apnaa Apnaa (2006-2007).[12] He played his first negative role in Khwaish (2007-2008).[13] followed by a double negative role in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008).

His first notable role was his portrayal of Dev in the drama series Choti Bahu (2008-2011).[14] he had participated in several world tours and concerts. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, he performed in Zee Night Concerts around the world along with Chotti Bahu co-star, Rubina Dilaik.[15][16] He participated in Zee Heroes with a Mamta Sharma concert (2012)[17] and Udit Narayan with Zee stars concert (2013) in South Africa.[18] Sachdev worked as an event manager in his last few Show Time Creations concerts held in South Africa.[19]

Another notable role was his portrayal of Shlok Agnihotri in the romantic drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir (2013-2015).[20] In 2017, primarily because of Sachdev's contribution to the Indian TV show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir (dubbed as Tatli Bela in Turkey), he became the second Indian actor after Bollywood legend Raj Kapoor to visit Azerbaijan.[21][22] The same year, he was invited to Turkey for a fan meet and greet event organised by Kanal 7 for the fans of Tatli Bela to meet Avinash Sachdev as Shlok Agnihotri from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? 2.[23][24]

In 2015, Sachdev joined the cast of Qubool Hai season 4 (2015-2016).[25]

Avinash was also a part of Balika Vadhu season 2 in 2016. This was his third television project with the production company, Sphere Origins.[26]

In 2019, Sachdev played the lead character of Madhav in Main Bhi Ardhangini (2019).[27]

Directing career

Sachdev first worked as an assistant director on Hatim (2004) when he was 18 years old. He also assisted Farhan Akhtar in Rock On!! (2008).[28]
