Bayshore Town Center

Bayshore (formerly called Bayshore Mall and Bayshore Town Center) is an open-air shopping mall/mixed use complex including retail shops, restaurants, offices and residential units[1] in Glendale, Wisconsin. It is currently anchored by Barnes & Noble and Kohl's, along with one of the Milwaukee area's two Apple Stores. In June 2020 it was announced that Total Wine & More would be taking over the space previously occupied by a Sports Authority.[2] Later in June it was also announced that a 2-story Target store would be opening in the former Boston Store space.[3] The Total Wine & More is slated to open late summer of 2020 and the new Target store has yet to release an anticipated opening date.

Originally an outdoor strip mall built in 1954, it was converted into an enclosed mall in 1974. By 1989, it held the last remaining location of local department store T. A. Chapman Co.[4]

The first of two major redevelopments began in 2006, Bayshore Town Center was redeveloped into a mixed use center. It has 113 residential apartments, along with 1.3 million square feet of retail and restaurant space. In February in preparation of the next redevelopment, some stores began to move to new locations in the mall.[5]

Struggles and redevelopment plans

In 2014, Sears closed its doors at Bayshore Town Center and has been torn down since. Boston Store closed August 2018 and remains vacant as of January 2019. Despite the closures, the Nordstrom Rack plans to open in fall 2020.

In 2018 the mall's management has proposed a "conversion of Glendale's troubled Bayshore Town Center, replacing much of its vacant retail space with offices, a hotel and apartments."[6]

In September of 2019 it was announced that Bayshore would once again be going through a major redevelopment and redesign. [7]
